Seltmann, tradition and a bright future with SACMI-SAMA technology

Renowned German producer of high-end porcelain for the Ho.Re.Ca. sector installs 2 PCM 100 and 2 PCM 150 ‘GREEN’ pressure casting machines by SAMA, enabling the continuation of a centuries-old tradition while implementing innovative lean manufacturing solutions

A key European producer of high-end porcelain for the Ho.Re.Ca sector and private customers, German firm Seltmann has gone for SACMI-SAMA pressure casting to implement an ambitious technological upgrade plan that strengthens a 200-year tradition and takes the company into the future.

Founded in 1810 and one of Germany’s most renowned porcelain manufacturers, Seltmann installed the new casting machines in its factories with a dual objective: to boost production and simultaneously set a new tableware manufacturing standard that embraces total automation, robotics and lean management of production flows.

Designed to manufacture various types of porcelain items, SAMA pressure casting machines meet Seltmann's ultra-high quality standards and optimize workers’ tasks thanks to a shared interface, user-friendliness, easy settings and connectivity. The press control software was tailored to the customer's specific needs and manufacturing outlook, then interconnected with the factory supervisor.

Sustainability was a prominent part of the project as it included the installation of state-of-the-art sensors throughout the plant to perform real-time measurement of air, water and energy consumption. Those sensors are, in turn, connected to the company ERP to provide comprehensive performance tracking.
A high-level partnership, then, in which SAMA provides Seltmann with the support they need to achieve their product quality, sustainability and operational efficiency goals.
