“I wasn't expecting that”, joked Michele Pulpito, on learning that the Presidency of the Italian Republic had awarded him the Stella al Merito del Lavoro. The latter, in fact, is one of the greatest Italian honours, reserved for those who, in Italy or abroad, have demonstrated “unique expertise, industriousness and outstanding moral conduct” in the fields of economics, work or manufacturing.
With a career spanning 30 years, 20 of which have been spent at SACMI (first as chief representative of SACMI Imola in what was then SACMI's Moscow sales office and later, from 2003 onwards, as head of the newly formed OOO "SACMI MOSCA"), Pulpito began his international career in the early 1990s.
Seven years spent in Sweden working with major multinationals was followed by a return to Italy where he joined, almost immediately, SACMI. Here, he channelled his efforts into the sale of ceramic-making machines and complete plants for the Russian market. These last six months have seen him - after handing the role of head of SACMI Mosca to Andrea Cicchetti - return to a full-time role as chief representative of SACMI Imola in Moscow.
Mr. Pulpito received the award (which includes a special category for Italians working abroad) today during a public ceremony at the Italian Embassy in Moscow, attended by the Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano, who put together the 'Pulpito dossier' thanks to the many glowing reports received over the years by the Embassy in Moscow.
A key factor in the assignment of the Stella was Michele Pulpito's crucial contribution to the development and firm establishment of SACMI Mosca - pivotal to the SACMI Global Network's performance across the entire area - in terms of sales, spare parts, and advanced after-sale services. Under Mr. Pulpito's guidance, in fact, the company has expanded to a point where it now employs 33 people: managers, office staff and highly qualified technicians, 31 of whom are local employees.
“I'm proud to receive this totally unexpected and, indeed, unsought award”, points out Michele Pulpito “because of the personal satisfaction that stems not just from promoting Italian products and production abroad but, rather, from successfully and soundly carrying forward the values of Italian culture, as does the entire SACMI Group worldwide”.
