SACMI Rigid Packaging at PACK EXPO Chicago 2026: performance, sustainability and control

SACMI Rigid Packaging at PACK EXPO Chicago 2026: performance, sustainability and control

From 18th to 21st October SACMI will be in Chicago to present the latest advances in its cap and preform production technologies. Taking center-stage will be the High Production Bay with the CCM80SB and IPS 500: alongside it, the broadest, most comprehensive range of high-performance caps, with all-round support and services from the Rigid Packaging Laboratory.

SACMI will soon be back at PACK EXPO International, to be held from 18th to 21st October 2026 at McCormick Place in Chicago: the perfect showcase for SACMI Rigid Packaging cap and preform manufacturing technology. The focus will be on new developments on the CCM (Continuous Compression Molding) and IPS (Injection Preform System) platforms, designed to deliver unmatched performance, sustainability and process control.

High Production Bay: CCM80SB + IPS 500 to maximize productivity and efficiency

SACMI’s CCM (Continuous Compression Molding) technology is the international benchmark for cap manufacturing quality, reliability and productivity. CCM, in fact, lets producers work at lower temperatures, reducing energy consumption and on-material stress. The result: outstanding dimensional stability, less waste and streamlined management, even with high-speed lightweight production.
SACMI’s High Production Bay features the CCM80SB, which can make up to 4,000 caps per minute. The press - the most productive ever in the SACMI CCM range - comes with the new high-performance SFM slitting machine, sized to keep pace with the higher line productivity.
CCM technology is complemented by the IPS (Injection Preform System) PET preform manufacturing range, recently expanded with the new IPS 500. SACMI injection presses combine productivity, flexibility and process control with integrated quality control and the ability to perform new robotic inspections with PVS Robot.
By combining CCM and IPS, SACMI can approach each project as a coordinated system, with work conducted on cap, neck and preform. Customers can thus optimize not just the performance of the individual machines but the overall efficiency of the entire process, thus maintaining an optimal balance of productivity, simplicity and user-friendly management.

Cellulose: new technologies for sustainable packaging

Cellulose fiber plays a key role in SACMI's drive to develop sustainable packaging: it’s renewable, compostable and can be recycled back into the traditional paper supply chain. SACMI has now developed a new industrial solution based on a dry molding technology that can be used to make lids, capsules, single-serving containers and other rigid items such as caps and necks, all with excellent mechanical properties: this shortens cycle times, eliminates the use of water in the production process and puts an end to material waste, thus expanding opportunities for cellulose fibers in the packaging sector.

Additionally, in collaboration with Celwise, SACMI has developed a steam molding technology. This accelerates removal of water from the fiber, resulting in high-performance, precision products of consistent quality that have numerous food packaging applications. These two complementary approaches expand the industrialization prospects for such packaging, the goal being to offer new, scalable, competitive alternatives to traditional packaging.
