Ideal-Sanitaire aims for export strategy with SACMI technology

First pressure casting cell successfully started up; the Tunisian company invests in SACMI RobotCasting technology for quality and process repeatability to guarantee its position at the top end of the market.

Essential for the economy of the country, the export of ceramic sanitaryware requires European standards of quality and technology. For this reason, Ideal-Sanitaire – leading Tunisian sanitaryware manufacturer with a production output of approx. one million pieces per year – decided to invest in the advantages offered by SACMI’s RobotCasting technology.

The company, based in Tunis, recently purchased a pressure casting cell made up of two single-mould AVM machines for complex stick-on rim WC bowls. The cell is served by a handling robot which carries out various operations from application of the glue for the rim, to piece demoulding, up to deposit of the piece at the finishing and storage stations.

Thanks to the help of the robot, the demoulding operations are carried out automatically without any need for manual intervention, thus leaving the operator to perform more skilled work and reducing the risk of rejects. The customer’s key objective is not just the greater productivity made possible by the AVM compared to traditional systems but also and above all, the high level of quality and process repeatability guaranteed by the pressure casting solutions which use SACMI moulds according to the development and market launch of new products.

The distinctive feature of the supply made to Ideal-Sanitaire, alongside the SACMI RobotCasting technology is, in fact, the investment by the customer in two complete modelling developments. Entirely carried out by SACMI, the first of these developments is dedicated to the creation of the GEMME collection (a box rim WC in 7 parts already part of the Ideal-Sanitaire range but made using traditional casting systems up to now). The second model, on the other hand, is dedicated to the new TOPAZ line; a rimless WC in 7 parts completely developed by SACMI according to the customer’s design.

In addition to the supply of the moulds and the polyurethane prototype of the new WC bowl, all the functionality validation tests were also carried out by SACMI; a further certification of quality for Ideal-Sanitaire to ensure its deserved place at the top end of the market.
