Already market leader in Bangladesh in the hard porcelain sector, the Group further expands production capacity with the start-up of 4 new SACMI-SAMA PHO451 presses complete with OFM-8 automatic finishing. Together with SACMI, and under the strategic vision of the Managing Director Mr Bashir Uddin, the Group’s long-term strategy to gain ground in international markets takes another step forward.
AkijBashir, Tableware Division, consolidates its position as lead manufacturer of hard porcelain in Bangladesh. Backed up by continuous investment in technology, the Group’s modernization project and plan for growth on international markets has reached a new milestone with the start-up of 4 new SACMI-SAMA PHO451 “GREEN SERIES” isostatic presses.
The new machines join the previous ones, already put into operation between 2021 and 2023, effectively doubling the production capacity for a wide mix of flatware products; plates, dishes and bowls with diameters up to 38 cm and height of 110 mm.
The latest generation presses just supplied have the same technical characteristics as the previous ones as regards reduced energy consumption (30% less than traditional solutions) and extremely high process quality and repeatability. Each press is equipped with an OFM-8 universal finishing machine, sponging on a conveyor belt and an automatic unloading and stacking system.
AkijBashir Group is one of the foremost industrial groups in Bangladesh, active in various manufacturing and consumer goods industries. The premium Akij Tableware division has rapidly gained international recognition over the last few years thanks to its highly automated production plants, European technology and careful attention to design, sustainability and the HORECA market.
The new machines were delivered at the end of 2025 and start-up was completed efficiently on schedule thanks to the long-established working relationship and effective cooperation between the SACMI-SAMA team and AkijBashir’s technical staff. In continuity with previous supplies, all the auxiliary equipment has also been completed, from the supply of the pressing tools to the air exhaust system, ensuring that a clean and healthy workplace is maintained at all times.
For AkijBashir, this latest project marks a further leap forward in automation, quality and process repeatability in line with the Group’s strategy. Today, AkijBashir exports between 60 and 70% of its production worldwide – already more than 125 thousand pieces/day - with further expansion into overseas markets planned, aiming to transform Bangladesh into a regional hub for high-end tableware.
