SACMI to make its debut at Compack Sri Lanka 2024

Compack Sri Lanka, 30 August - 1 September 2024, at the BMICH in Colombo. Innovations, partnerships and new opportunities in the packaging sector, plus a vast range of cutting-edge machinery and materials, from compression and injection machines to labelling, filling and a wide range of packaging materials.

The SACMI neck-cap system

Drawing on the expertise of its Rigid Packaging Laboratory, SACMI provides comprehensive consultancy services for cap and neck development, with already-available systems certified by major international brand owners and a unique ability to develop solutions that are also personalized from a design perspective.

Light, sustainable caps

The latest 26/22 mm closures - for which SACMI develops the broadest range on the market - are truly outstanding. For example, the new multi-purpose SACMI AB26CSDT-5 (GME 30.40) and AB26CSD12 (GME30.41) caps are the lightest available (-35% plastic compared to the traditional PCO1881 finish) and deliver the ultra-high performance that’s essential for carbonated drinks. The still water offering has also been further refined: the new premium-style ultra-light AB26W15 (1.1 g) provides a further 10% saving compared to the already consolidated AB26W8 (well over 1 gram of weight saved on the combined neck+cap system compared to a traditional ‘Alaska’ neck).

Light preforms

The IPS (Injection Preform System) completes the SACMI offering in the preform sector. What makes the difference is the integrated neck+cap approach. On the GME 30.40 and 30.41, for example, SACMI offers, alongside the standard preform, a special ‘light’ solution for water (over 0.7 grams of PET saved per preform, down from 2.71 to 1.96 grams). Yet that’s not all: the hot fill solution, weighing just 0.15-0.2 g more than a standard preform, allows considerable savings compared to the conventional reinforced PCO1881.

High-quality containers

In addition to cap and preform solutions, SACMI will be showcasing its LBF technology at Compack Sri Lanka: a versatile, high-performance alternative for the production of high-quality containers. LBF merges compression molding and stretch-blow molding into a one-step process, making it an efficient way of molding preforms made of HDPE, LDPE, HIPS and, more generally, high-viscosity polymers.
The use of a dual set of stretch-blow molds ensures final containers of outstanding quality.

The Ready-to-Market approach

All the solutions showcased at Compack Sri Lanka are on the market now and immediately applicable at industrial level. The SACMI Lab is also equipped to develop customized responses to any additional production requirements, in terms of both product type to be packaged and by providing advanced design consultancy to create high-performance yet distinctive products.

Vision Systems

The complete SACMI Rigid Packaging technology range is complemented by inspection systems for every stage of production. These include the new PVS156, the first on the market to be incorporated directly on the preform press: this allows intensive quality control, with positive effects on the process (i.e. immediate identification of any drifts, zero incorrect batches).

Service

With SACMI Engineering, the customer can count on first-class assistance before, during and after the sale. A team of local technicians provides expertise in all the individual technologies and ensures excellent availability of original spare parts.
