This latest solution joins two RobotCasting lines installed in 2022 for the production of open-rim WCs. This brings the customer a step closer to full automation of casting with SACMI RobotCasting technology
Ceramica Flaminia has installed a third AVB machine, thus completing automation of its WC casting department with SACMI RobotCasting technology. This latest investment follows the 2022 installation of two AVBs for the manufacture of open-rim WCs, a project that gave the customer the expected results in terms of productivity, quality and performance.
Hence Flaminia's latest investment decision, which will see a third casting island dedicated to the production of new floor-mounted WCs. Like the previous units, the supplied AVB can mount up to 4 molds. All operations – demolding, transfer to the pre-dryer, on-car loading – are performed by the robot.
Partnership with SACMI also included development of the models and molds needed to make this type of article (i.e. molds deeper - even up to 100 mm - than those used to produce wall-hung WCs).
Founded in 1955, Flaminia has been a leading ‘Made in Italy’ sanitaryware player for almost 70 years. Investment in SACMI pressure casting - which complements already-completed robotic glazing and handling projects – has allowed the company to take a further step towards automating the key stages of production.
More specifically, with AVB, Flaminia has selected a state-of-the-art multi-mold casting system that focuses on process quality/repeatability, automation and the reduction of manual tasks. In this respect, the pronged-fork method of loading articles onto the cars leaving the casting cell is equally innovative as it reduces the number and complexity of operations, resulting in higher product quality and relieving workers of tiring, repetitive tasks.
With three AVBs now installed, Flaminia has achieved an overall productivity increase of 600 pieces per day.
