A new Sacmi handling and feed line for Ceramica Ilca, a major player in the Civita Castellana ceramic district and part of Ceramica Globo, a long-standing Group customer. This order is for the Ilca plant at Fabrica di Roma, where two Sacmi robotized glazing lines are already in operation.
Every single stage, from piece transfer from the car to the finishing centre, up to and including downstream internal glazing, has now been fully automated and is no longer done manually. More specifically, the Sacmi-supplied FANUC robot picks the pieces from the car and then deposits them on the finishing centre where all finishing, inspection, control and internal glazing tasks are performed.
These tasks, handled by a 2-position turret, are aided by the robot in a fully autonomous manner, while the worker monitors from inside the centre. Afterwards, the piece is picked by the robot, sent on to the automatic internal siphon glazing unit and then loaded for the final glazing process.
With Sacmi, then, Ceramica Ilca has taken a big leap forwards by automating the manual handling tasks of all the WC manufacturing phases that precede external glazing. What's more, this order reinforces the long-standing industrial partnership between Sacmi and the Globo Group, a key player on the sanitaryware and bathroom furnishing scene since 1980. Ever since its founding, Globo has been committed to sustainability, investment in human resources and - through product and process innovation – providing a fast response to new consumer and market trends.
