Serel Seramik is a leading Turkish manufacturer of ceramic sanitaryware. Founded 30 years ago, it is a member company of the Elginkan Group, which dates back 65 years. The Group has 18 companies and 14 manufacturing facilities in Turkey, mainly in the Manisa industrial district.
The Elginkan Group exports to 100 countries, from Europe to the Middle East, from America to the Far East. Its motto - “Together for years” - sums up the Serel philosophy perfectly: sensitivity to environmental and social sustainability, attentiveness to employees' working conditions and water/energy savings, meticulously original yet contemporary design and a strong focus on customers' needs plus, needless to say, product quality.
As part of a drive to modernize their glazing department, Serel has purchased a system consisting of 2 Gaiotto spray stations with a combined daily output capacity of around 2,400 WCs. Each station consists of two GA 2000 glazing robots with self-learning programming, a piece handling robot, 4 glazing booths, 4 inspection booths and 2 piece storage systems.
At the end of the spraying cycle each glazing robot rotates 180° so it can glaze the piece set down in the opposite booth by the handling robot. This is done as a smooth, simultaneous action (i.e. without having to halt the real added-value task of article spraying).
Key glazing system features include integrated Mass Control system, which optimises glaze delivery, and glazing booths with dry filters to ensure complete glaze retrieval and less water consumption when cleaning the booths.
Gaiotto glazing stations allow Serel to raise their finished product quality and thus reinforce a market success based on the painstaking design of its vitreous china and fine fire-clay sanitaryware, as demonstrated by the Red Dot Product Design Award won in 2013.
To increase the value of its products, Serel's R&D efforts also focus on ensuring everyday sanitaryware items offer outstanding hygiene. This last goal has been achieved using Serel's “Hygiene Plus” and “Extraclean” surface nanotechnologies: after application of the standard glaze the Gaiotto glazing robots spray an anti-bacteria film onto the WCs and washbasins. This film reduces the build-up of any bacterial residues.
