New SACMI AVE040 Plus up and running at Cersanit Russia

The Cersanit Russia plant has just seen the new SACMI AVE040 Plus installed and tested in record time! This latest casting machine is a further evolution of SACMI’s popular multi-mould platform for the large-scale manufacture of quality WCs. A long-standing SACMI customer, Cersanit Russia has a plant fully dedicated to the high pressure casting of sanitaryware, a production strategy based on the fact that this technique offers numerous advantages compared to traditional solutions.

What makes the SACMI AVE040 Plus different from previous versions is an array of features - brought together for the very first time on the solution recently supplied to Cersanit - that have already been tested at customers' plants. First of all, the machine structure is more compact (the machine is 600 mm shorter and 500 mm deeper), a characteristic that makes maintenance and all mould extraction, handling and changeover tasks much easier. What's more, mould opening has now been made independent, with electro-mechanical drives replaced by a pneumatic system. This enhances the versatility of the solution as it allows each mould to be managed separately.

One of the direct consequences of these new features is a significantly lower total cycle time which, in this case, has also been achieved thanks to independent control of the moulds and simultaneous opening of the lateral sections. Cersanit confirmed these advantages during start-up and testing, recording a de-moulding cycle time that is one minute or more shorter (which means an overall increase in productivity of 3 cycles per day).

Higher productivity, easy maintenance and versatile management of the various article types: three key features of the new SACMI AVE040 Plus with which the company - whose multi-mould platform has been winning over manufacturers since its launch back in 1997 - is once again setting the standard for the large-scale manufacture of quality sanitaryware. Downstream from the new machine, SACMI has also supplied Cersanit with an automated solution for simultaneous de-moulding of the 4 installed moulds, ready for subsequent set-down on the conveyor belt. Here, pieces are left to mature long enough to ensure they're ready to be sent on to the final drying and firing processes.
