On 31st July 2002 Sacmi & Catelli S.p.A. acquired full control of the Carle & Montanari S.p.A. Group and Carle & Montanari Inc. Carle & Montanari is therefore now part of the Sacmi Group via the holding company Sacmi & Catelli, controlled by the Catelli family of Parma (40%) and the Sacmi Group (60%). Carle & Montanari, founded in Brescia in 1907 by Enrico Carle, is a leading manufacturer of machines for chocolate and confectionery. C&M SpA has two production plants in Italy, one at Rozzano (on the outskirts of Milan), the other in Bologna. The Rozzano plant produces chocolate-making machines and modelling systems while the Bologna plant focuses on the production of wrapping machines. Another company in the Group, C&M Inc, a 100% controlled enterprise, is dedicated to the marketing and sale of the Group’s products in North America. Commercialisation of C&M products on international markets is handled by area managers, who enjoy the support of an extensive, capillary network of local agents. Carle & Montanari is the only company in the world able to supply all the machines and engineering skills needed for the production of chocolate – from pressing of cocoa liquor through to the final production, wrapping and packaging cycle.
