QUALITY OF BUSINESS, QUALITY OF LIFE

THE INTEGRATED ANNUAL REPORT

SACMI has been preparing the Social Report since 2003 - the Sustainability Report since 2014 - in line with its values and to measure itself against the best international standards on sustainability culture and best practices.
Since 2018, SACMI has published an Annual Integrated Report to provide, in a single document, a comprehensive report on the results obtained from an economic, environmental and social point of view.
The document is prepared according to the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards (GRI Standards) guidelines issued in 2016 by the Global Reporting Initiative.
The objective is the continuous improvement of sustainability reporting practices as a functional tool to enhance both the strategic orientation and the quality of the SACMI product and service.

SUSTAINABILITY FIRST

Sustainability - understood as financial, social and environmental sustainability - is at the heart of SACMI's actions and guides its strategic and decision-making processes.

SUSTAINABILITY BOARD

SACMI set up the Sustainability Board, with the aim of extending the scope, quantity and quality of the company's financial, social and environmental sustainability indicators.

In 2021, SACMI entered into financing agreements amounting to EUR 50 million to achieve R&D objectives to improve the environmental profile of production processes for the five-year period 2021-2025. The financed interventions fall within the objectives of the Green New Deal and earned support from SACE.

THE GROWTH OF SKILLS AND SECURITY OF OUR PEOPLE

Our people - over 4,700 worldwide - are our most valuable asset. We invest a great deal of effort in supporting continuous training of our personnel, with over 23,000 hours invested in training in 2020 alone, of which 6,700 hours were dedicated to safety and environmental training activities

ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE

SACMI incorporates sustainability in all production processes, both within the factory and in the machines/technologies it offers.
In particular, SACMI has worked to reduce the environmental footprint of its production activities, in terms of energy, water consumption, waste management and emissions.

-36% wastewater delivered to and treated by in-house sewage treatment plant from 2019
- 5% tons of waste sent for disposal (non-recoverable) from 2019
44% of electricity needs from self-generation (trigeneration + photovoltaic system)

The values of cooperation

The principles of internal and external mutuality have been part of SACMI's DNA since its foundation. These principles are implemented year after year with concrete actions, from respect for the environment to the enhancement of work, from attention to the territory to actions to offer new opportunities in developing countries.

SACMI continuously invests in projects to support the local and international community in particular in the areas of health, education, care (more than EUR 1.8 million from 2019).

SACMI puts people at the centre. It operates a comprehensive benefits and corporate welfare programme for employees and their families.

Code of Ethics

SACMI gives importance and is constantly committed to the correctness and continuous improvement of professional relationships with partners, employees, customers, partners, suppliers, institutions and competitors.

For this reason, in 2005 SACMI Imola adopted a Code of Ethics expressing its ethical commitments and responsibilities, which all collaborators must comply with when conducting business and company activities.

This document constitutes a reference for all those who collaborate with the Cooperative, and in the first place for those who are called upon to govern, administer and manage it. The Code of Ethics is also a reference point for the companies of the SACMI Network, which are called upon to implement it also, if necessary, adapting it to individual company specificities.

Code of Ethics

Certified quality and responsibility

For SACMI, being socially responsible means seeking the best solutions while respecting the dignity of work, protection of the environment and social ethics, key factors in daily business activities.

From this point of view, SACMI has adopted a set of internationally recognised certifications, including a management system that complies with ISO 14001, integrating it with the ISO 9001 quality and safety management system for workers,  ISO45001. SACMI Imola currently has an Integrated Management System that complies with the standards:

  • UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 - Quality
  • UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 - Environment
  • UNI ISO 45001:2018 - Health and Safet
During 2020, the transition to the new standard for the Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001) was completed and a dedicated working group was set up with the aim of incorporating all legislative and health indications relating to the measures to be adopted to ensure the continuity of a safe production for all workers.
