Villeroy & Boch Hungary doubles casting machinery with SACMI AVM

Two new AVM 150 have recently been started up and commissioned. Part of the modernization and production expansion at the Hódmezővásárhely plant, at the heart of the development plans of this famous European company, lead player in the ceramics sector for 275 years.

A famous brand for 275 years, Villeroy & Boch has much to teach us about design and quality in the sanitaryware and bathroom sector. Together with its partner SACMI, the company is continuing with its plan for modernization and production expansion at the Villeroy&Boch Hungary plant, increasingly at the centre of the development strategy and launching of new products which the company exports throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

In particular, two new AVM 150 high-pressure casting machines have recently been started up and commissioned at the plant in Hódmezővásárhely, joining the other two existing machines operating at the factory. In this way, with moulds entirely supplied by SACMI, two complete robotized casting cells will be dedicated to the production of new rimless WC models, the flagship products in the Villeroy & Boch collection on international markets.

The AVM has set a benchmark in the industry for quality and repeatability of the process for casting complex WCs. The perfect balance between versatility and automation, thanks to the robot serving the two casting machines, is backed up by other equipment specially designed by SACMI to help the Hódmezővásárhely factory evolve according to the most modern standards of efficiency when it comes to the management of the various production stages.
In fact, in addition to installing two new AVM machines, a new automatic system for loading cars exiting the RobotCasting line has been supplied to transfer the items directly to the glazing line where they are unloaded automatically, thus connecting the two processes and ensuring operators no longer have to carry out the heaviest and most repetitive movements.

This machine installation is just the latest step in the production expansion plan that will continue to be carried out over the coming months at Villeroy & Boch Hungary, where further SACMI casting machines are to be set up. In addition to supplying the casting technology and automation systems, the project once again saw a complete partnership between the two companies in the development of the moulds required for the production of the new models in the range.
