SACMI casting for new RSL Deluxe Bathware plant

SACMI casting for new RSL Deluxe Bathware plant

RSL opens its third plant, based in Akuressa and overlooking the Nilwala River, in the South of Sri Lanka, to expand production capacity. SACMI once more confirmed as partner for all key technologies for this project, the crowning achievement of a continuous path of growth and progress undertaken by RSL. Newly installed BCL casting bench dedicated to pieces made with 2-part moulds.

Leading manufacturer in the Sri Lankan sanitaryware industry, RSL Deluxe Bathware has completed an ambitious project to set up its third production plant, which is located in the south of the country in Akuressa, district of Matara, in the splendid setting of the hills overlooking the Nilwala River.

The new investment marks the culmination of seven years of growth for RSL, supported throughout by its partner SACMI, which has supplied all the key technologies at every stage. At the new “Nilwala” production plant, a Sacmi-supplied BCL casting bench has just been started up which will be dedicated to the manufacture of pieces made with two-part moulds such as washbasins, pedestals, squat pans, lids etc.

The solution supplied develops the concept of traditional casting with plaster moulds thanks to the exclusive additional equipment for automatic control of the casting cycle and parameter settings, to assist the operator and guarantee repeatability and consistency of operations.

In the configuration supplied, the casting bench is integrated with the dryer, for total overall dimensions of 25x6 metres. Directional fans assist mould drying after casting and enable proper pre-drying of the pieces which are then transferred to the dryer on panels, allowing two casting cycles to be completed every day.

The solution has been specially designed by SACMI to meet specific market requirements, such as running the dryer on LPG which is the fuel traditionally in use in Sri Lanka. The integration with the dryer was also conceived by SACMI to ensure two casting cycles can be completed even under climatic/ambient conditions with a high level of humidity, to speed up drying of the plaster moulds at the end of each cycle.

In addition to the casting bench, SACMI supplied the modelling developments required for the production of the two new washbasin models in Fine Fire Clay that will become part of RSL’s range.
Thanks to the success of this project, SACMI is confirmed as top partner for the sanitaryware industry in Sri Lanka supporting local manufacturers to grow their production and market share with European quality and technology solutions.
