Sacmi strengthens its presence in Mexico

Sacmi de Mexico is to reinforce its standing on its core market via a two-stage expansion. The first stage will be the opening of a new production plant at San Luis Potosì, expected to take place at the end of September 2006; this new facility will allow Sacmi de Mexico to fulfil its role as a service provider to the expanding Mexican ceramic market much more effectively. The new production area covers 2000 square metres: a 1000-square-metre factory facility, a 500-square-metre car park and another 500 square metres set aside for future expansion. Here, Sacmi provides technology to key ceramic companies (Lamosa, Vitromex, Nitropiso, Italgres del Gruppo Porcelanite) and the opening of the new plant will also optimise technical assistance and supply times for both materials and services.
The second stage of Sacmi de Mexico’s expansion will involve the enlargement of office facilities at Mexico City; completion is scheduled for October 2006.
From these new sales, technical and customer support offices (measuring 260 square metres) Sacmi de Mexico’s personnel will provide sales and after-sales support for several Sacmi Group business units: staff will operate in the traditional ceramic and closures area (Sacmi Imola), in beverages (Sacmi Filling, Sacmi Labelling) and in plastics (Negri Bossi).
Sacmi de Mexico’s head offices will remain in Monterrey (500 km from San Luis Potosì), where management and sales team/technical assistance coordination is located.
