Duravit Egypt installs fourth SACMI-Riedhammer kiln

Performance, reliability, durability and outstanding products: characteristics that make SACMI-Riedhammer technology unique. So it's hardly surprising that SACMI-Riedhammer has, again, strengthened its role as a key partner of Duravit, the company that sets the world standard in sanitaryware quality and design. Indeed, a fourth SACMI-Riedhammer kiln was recently shipped to Cairo - where the Hornberg Group has one of its biggest overseas manufacturing facilities - to join the existing SACMI sanitaryware firing/re-firing kilns.

Duravit Egypt has long played a pivotal role on the strategic Egyptian market. It established manufacturing facilities there in 1999 and opened a new branch-showroom in Cairo in 2009. The company sees Riedhammer technology as the key to higher productivity and quality. The first 2 Riedhammer kilns were installed back in 2005, their flexibility and reliability winning the customer over immediately. The year 2017 saw implementation of the second stage of the ambitious firing department investment plan; this involved installation of a third kiln. Lastly, a fourth shuttle kiln was successfully started up and tested just recently.

Like the one supplied in 2017, the fourth kiln is an SSK 440/198-8 with 8 15x4.4x2-metre modules. Moreover, the kiln has an innovative inner lining made of cordierite/mullite refractory plates, a feature that reduces kiln maintenance requirements and ensures better, long-lasting firing process quality. Thanks to the fast cooling system both machines can compress the complete first firing cycle into just 14 hours, thus optimising production.
