SACMI Rigid Packaging Lab services

The SACMI Rigid Packaging Lab provides customers with comprehensive product development support. Opportunities include access to the market’s widest range of solutions for the new 26/22 mm neck standards, which reduce raw material consumption by up to 35% yet still deliver the same performance.
Thanks to the Lab's expertise and its close partnerships with major international brand owners who certify its solutions, SACMI is able to provide close support, from the early design stages to complete pre-industrialization testing.

Tethered caps: a green, versatile solution

SACMI’s proposal for the new tethered standard - mandatory in Europe and already adopted by the world’s main brand owners regardless of compliancy regulations - is attracting more and more attention in South Africa.
All new cap proposals are available in the tethered version: for example, the ThisCap® configuration delivers a perfect combination of practicality, sustainability and cutting-edge design. SACMI also offers an exclusive post-processing solution that allows lines to be adapted with ease, reducing system complexity and making the transition more profitable.

A comprehensive range to meet every production need

From the design of the product to the technology needed to manufacture it: SACMI has a combination of winning solutions such as CCM, the world-leading continuous compression press for caps, and IPS, a range of injection presses for PET preforms.
The combination of these two solutions is increasingly popular with local manufacturers as it delivers all the advantages of a sole partner and lets them optimize production processes (thanks also to new digital services and on-machine quality controls).

Process control and AI

Completing the SACMI proposal is the market’s widest range of vision systems. Brimming with new features, these are designed to take quality control into the realm of ‘process control’, also by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by AI.
In-line quality control includes an exclusive solution integrated directly into the preform press, the PVS 156: a revolution in process control that performs real-time fault detection and management. This reduces the risk of incorrect batches, ensuring less cost and waste, consistent long-term quality and more efficient machine use.
And that’s not all. SACMI has introduced AI-powered solutions such as the Classy AI platform, which uses state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms to automatically recognize and classify defects. This technology makes quality control a proactive process, simplifying system management.

Support and service: over 10 years of SACMI South Africa 

Established in 2014, SACMI South Africa is the area’s ‘help hub’. Its highly trained team of local technicians offers fast-track technical assistance and an original spare parts service. New digital assistance services are also provided, in synergy with the Italian parent company. These include the new SACMI Smart Care scheduled maintenance plans, which ensure flawless worry-free production at all times.
