Vajillas Corona invests in a second Sacmi-Sama isostatic pressing solution

Colombian firm Vajillas Corona, a long-standing manufacturer of tableware in the Latin American market part of Organización Corona, recently doubled its capacity of large-format isostatic pressing by renewing its partnership with Sama, a Sacmi Group company specialised in the design and production of highly automated tableware production solutions. In recent months a second LPP-1-45 OFM 8-R45 pressing and finishing line was succesfully installed in the production facility at Caldas, Antioquia (near Medellin, Colombia, confirming the Colombian firm's confidence in the LPP-1-45 as the best solution for manufacturing and handling the largest formats, mainly aimed at the hotel industry.

One of the key characteristics of the new pressing line is its capacity to handle all manufacturing and finishing tasks for plates with diameters of up to 455 mm or even larger diagonals in the case of non-round articles. Press productivity - from 250 to 300 pieces depending on the shape (round or irregular) of the article – is also a key factor. This is a particularly high output rate for items of such sizes, underlining the unrivalled market leadership of the SAMA PP-1-45 isostatic press when it comes to producing large complex pieces.

The versatility, flexibility and efficiency of the press goes hand in hand with the advantages of the OFM 8-R45 automatic finisher, designed to dry-finish all article types (round, multi-corner, square, rectangular, plate or dish, even articles with irregular asymmetric edges). Thanks to this solution, customers can make the most of pressing line productivity potential, achieving high output while optimising process performance.

An outstanding upstream design effort jointly executed by Sama's technicians and the dynamic Vajillas Corona engineering team allowed a smooth integration of the LPP-1-45 OFM 8-R45 on the existing production line. The new press is operating in conjunction with several other already-installed Sacmi presses that feed, in parallel, a single conveyor belt which carries the pressed stacked product downstream to the glazing line, then going afterwards automatically on a RiedHammer-SACMI tunnel kiln.

A long-standing player on the Colombian ceramic manufacturing scene, Organización Corona dates all the way back to 1881, when the Compañía Cerámica Antioqueña was founded, later to become Fábrica de Lozas de Caldas (1906) and then from 1948 Locería Colombiana. Vajillas Corona as one of the most renowned, recognisable brands on the Latin American tableware market, a firm offering classy catalogue collections and a range of specific items for the Institutional sector (restaurants and hotels). With this latest investment, the Colombian company reinforces its long-standing industrial partnership with SACMI-Sama, in keeping with its plant engineering improvement policy that aims to provide its customers with the best available standards in the market.
