Music gets a helping hand from Sacmi

The international “From Bach to Bartok” music festival - originally an offshoot of the International Piano Academy “Meetings with the Maestro” - is already under way and will continue over the coming weeks, with Sacmi as one of its key sponsors. The festival, now in its 16th edition, offers up a rich menu of music that can be enjoyed in Imola and other towns in the province of Bologna. The 2004 edition got under way with a “twin” event (22nd and 23rd May – Imola Town Theatre) dedicated to five piano and orchestra concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven, performed by the Orchestra of Padova and Veneto under the direction of Anton Nanut, with solo performances from talented young pianists. Offering music lovers a packed calendar of events that lasts until 22nd July, the festival spans from the classical (camera and symphony) to tzigana, from flamenco to jazz. The Bach to Bartok Festival Committee will also be organising two concerts to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of Sacmi Imola (2nd December 1919). The first concert by the “Giorgio Zagnoni ensemble” will be held on 15th July at 9 pm at Palazzo Monsignani Sassatelli while the second one, with a Christmas theme, will be held on 2nd December at Palazzo dello Sport in Imola and will include a performance by the singer Antonella Ruggiero.
