Sacmi donates € 300,000 to Casa Guglielmi

The Sacmi Group is to play a key role in the extension of the Casa Gugliemi accommodation centre. The extension, on which work is expected to start in June, will accommodate relatives of patients staying at the Montecatone hospital in Imola. Patients’ families – 65% of whom arrive from outside the region – will thus be able to count on comfortable accommodation during their loved ones’ period of hospital treatment. Once the extension work (expected to last two years) has been completed there will be 50 rooms with a total capacity of 90 beds compared to the current 24. By contributing 300,000 Euros Sacmi is one of the main sponsors of the project, the total cost of which is expected to be around € 3.5 million.
“Sacmi has decided to sponsor this project”, says Domenico Olivieri, President of Sacmi, “because it provides a real response to real problems”. Donations from institutions, banks, businesses and associations have already topped the 3 million Euro mark. “Fund raising will continue”, says President of the Montecatone Foundation and General Manager of the Sacmi Group, Giulio Cicognani, “to cover the cost of furnishings and other items. Sponsors may, if they wish, name a room in the accommodation centre after a deceased relative”. The Montecatone hospital has 150 beds, of which 8 are dedicated to intensive care, 10 sub-intensive, 66 for acute patients (44 for patients with spinal injuries, 22 for patients with cerebral injuries) and 66 for post-acute patients. Casa Guglielmi is owned by the Comune of Imola, which will soon purchase the adjoining Local Health Authority buildings.
